What is AVE
AVE is a local-first AI video editor for Mac, built by TinyThings, where the full non-linear editor stays useful with or without AI. Import footage and AVE builds project context from filenames, metadata, transcripts, and visual notes; review clean ranges across multiple recordings with Batch Selects; edit by selecting words in the transcript; or ask AVE to build a cut on a real timeline you can trim, split, retime, and snap by hand. Projects, local analysis, and exports stay on your Mac by default, and the release in view is AVE 1.2.5 on macOS 14.0 or later.
- 01Ask and Plan modes with reviewable edit plans before anything lands on the timeline
- 02Transcript editing and search plus visual clip search
- 03Media generation with Google Veo, Nano Banana, Runway, Luma, Kling, and Seedance
- 04MCP connection so Codex CLI or Claude Code can drive its 27 editing tools
- 05Multi-format deliverables including Shorts, Reels, SRT, and WebVTT
AVE ships as Free and Pro editions with no subscription, and external AI generation is optional through your own providers.
