HOW IT WORKS
Translate Page - Click "Translate Page", or right-click and choose it from the menu, to translate an entire webpage in place. Click "Restore Page" any time to go back to the original text. Free, no account needed.
Translate selected text - Highlight text on a page and a small popup appears with the translation. Sign in with Apple, Google, or a one-time email code to use it. The first time it works only on tabs where you have opened Linguin. Grant site access once from Settings to have it ready everywhere.
Sidebar translator - Open the side panel, type or paste text, and get a result with automatic language detection. Guests can use it with a lower character limit; signing in raises the limit and saves your history.
Translate every page (Premium) - Turn this on in Settings and each page is translated automatically as you browse.
Right-click menu - Translate Page, Translate Selection, or Open Sidebar, one click away on any page.

PRIVACY AND PERMISSIONS
Installing Linguin does not ask for access to your browsing. The extension requests storage to save settings and your sign-in session locally, contextMenus for the right-click options, sidePanel for the side panel, activeTab and scripting to translate the page you are currently on without standing access to every site, and identity for signing in.
Broader access to the sites you visit is optional. It is requested only if you turn on selected-text translation everywhere or automatic page translation, and you can revoke it any time from Settings or chrome://extensions.
Full-page and selected-text translation are handled by free translation engines, Google Translate with MyMemory as a fallback. Side panel translation is handled by Linguin's own AI service. If you sign in, your history and custom dictionary are stored on our servers and tied to your account. As a guest, nothing is stored beyond your local browser settings. Translated text is processed to return your result and is not sold to third parties. Full details are in our Privacy Policy at linguin.app/privacy.
