WA AI Reply adds a reply suggestion button directly inside WhatsApp Web. One click reads the recent conversation and offers three ready-to-send replies. Click the one you like and it lands in the message box, ready to edit or send.

The AI is a compact open-source language model (SmolLM2, about 300 MB) that runs locally through WebGPU - the same technology games use to access your graphics card from the browser.

No account. No API key. No subscription. No message ever leaves your computer.

Here is what you get:

AI Reply button - a small button near the message box in every chat. Click it and three suggested replies appear in a panel.

Context-aware suggestions - the AI reads the last few messages of the conversation, so suggestions actually fit what was said, not generic canned phrases.

Three reply styles - Casual for friends, Professional for clients, Friendly for everyone in between. Switch anytime in settings.

Reply language - suggestions can be generated in more than 20 languages, independent of what language the conversation is in.

One-click insert - click a suggestion and it fills the message box. You can edit before sending; nothing is ever sent automatically.

Regenerate - not happy with the three options? One click gets you three new ones.

After the one-time download, suggestions generate in a few seconds and work without any per-message network requests.

WHY ON-DEVICE AI MATTERS

Every cloud AI assistant works the same way: your conversation is uploaded, processed on a server, and the reply comes back. For personal chats that is a privacy problem. For business chats - prices, terms, customer data - it can be a real liability.

Running the model locally changes everything:

ABOUT THE MODEL DOWNLOAD

The first time you use the extension, it downloads the open-source SmolLM2 model (about 300 MB) from the HuggingFace model hub, with an automatic mirror fallback for regions where HuggingFace is unreachable. This is a data download, like downloading an offline map. The model is cached by your browser, so it only happens once.

• It does not send, collect, store, or transmit your conversations anywhere. Reply generation happens inside your browser.
• It does not send messages by itself. Suggestions only fill the message box; you always press send.
• It does not extract contacts, export chats, or scrape any data.
• It does not hook into WhatsApp's internal code. It reads only the messages already visible on your screen.

The only permissions it uses:

• storage - saves your style and language preferences
• access to web.whatsapp.com - shows the reply button and suggestion panel inside the chat

Network access is used exclusively for the one-time model download from HuggingFace. There is no analytics, no tracking, and no other network traffic.
